6 Years is a romantic drama starring Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield. The film follows Dan and Mel, a young couple who have been together for, you guessed it, six years. However, they find their relationship in jeopardy as they venture into different social groups and are offered opportunities that may lead them to different paths. Farmiga and Rosenfield have undeniable on-screen chemistry, but it's Farmiga who steals the show here. She gives an emotional, raw and vulnerable performance as someone who is truly needy of another person. The film and script itself are both honest, it's not sugarcoated in any way and portrays a modern day relationship with conflict in a realistic way. Another interesting aspect of the film is the focus on domestic abuse in the relationship - it's not often in films that we see the female behaving violently towards the male, it's almost always the other way around, so this film definitely does something different from what we're used to. The movie also has a cool, modern and moody soundtrack to suit its indie and alternative vibe. If you're leaning towards something original, emotional and entertaining, then 6 Years is the way to go.
